Manado PCG  Joins Fiesta Filipino at
 St. Nikolaus School in Tomohon
 
 
 
4 December 2025, Manado - The Philippine Consulate General in Manado participated in the Fiesta Filipino celebration held at St. Nikolaus School in Tomohon on 4 December 2025. The event highlighted Filipino culture, heritage, and community spirit, and gathered Filipino teachers, Indonesian students, and school officials for a day of cultural appreciation and friendship.

Consul General Mary Jennifer Domingo Dingal led the Consulate’s delegation and delivered a message emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding and the vital role of Filipino teachers in shaping young learners. She also underscored the significant influence of social media on students today. Consul General Dingal reminded educators that they serve as influencers and role models both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging them to use social media responsibly and positively to guide students in making informed, respectful, and safe online choices.

Following her remarks, the school administration presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Consul General Dingal in recognition of the Consulate’s support and continued engagement with both the Filipino and Indonesian communities in North Sulawesi.

The celebration featured several Filipino cultural booths showcasing native crafts, Filipino snacks, cultural artworks, and a dedicated booth for traditional Filipino games. The cultural display also included a creative photobooth improvised by Filipino teachers,

offering guests an engaging and interactive way to experience Filipino themes. A highlight of the artworks section was a painting inspired by the iconic Spoliarium, which provided students with a deeper appreciation of Filipino artistic heritage. A booth serving traditional Filipino dishes further enriched the cultural experience by allowing guests to savor authentic Filipino flavors.

Adding vibrancy to the event, Filipino teachers performed a traditional Filipino dance, which Consul General Dingal joined—delighting the audience and reflecting the Consulate’s active involvement with the Filipino teaching community.

Students also enjoyed participating in traditional Filipino games, including Pabitin, where they excitedly reached for hanging treats, and Paluang Palayok, where they took turns attempting to break the clay pot—bringing fun and excitement to the culmination of the cultural showcase. END
