Consul General Calls on the Mayor of Bitung City
Manado, Indonesia, 02 December 2025 - The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, led by Consul General Mary Jennifer Domingo Dingal, paid a courtesy call on Bitung City Mayor Hengky Honandar on 02 December 2025.
The Consul General expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Bitung City Government to Persons of Philippine Descent residing in the city, as well as the cooperation of Bitung Immigration in the ongoing mapping activities.
Both sides also discussed possible collaborations, including the reactivation of Bitung City’s sister city partnership with Davao City, joint activities for the Philippine-Indonesia Friendship Day in January 2026, and the Philippine National Heritage Month in May 2026. The Consul General likewise invited the Mayor to the upcoming wreath-laying ceremony at the Dr. Jose Rizal Monument in Bitung City in commemoration of the 129th anniversary of Dr. Rizal’s martyrdom.
Mayor Honandar thanked the Consulate for its participation in the Lembeh Festival in October 2025 and discussed the tuna canning facilities previously owned and operated by Filipino investors in Bitung City.
The Consul General was accompanied by Information Officer, Mr. Jonathan Raphael Tadeo and Liaison Officer/Translator Mr. Raymondo O.M. Wagiu. Mayor Honandar was joined by officials from the Bitung City Government.END
