Philippine Consulate General in Manado Visits the
Northern Sulawesi Regional Office of Customs and Excise
20 January 2025, Manado - The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, represented by Vice Consul Manfred Neale M. Manalo, Cdr. Efren Ryan I. Fajardo, PN, Philippine Liaison Officer (PLO), and Raymondo O. M. Wagiu, Political Assistant Liaison Officer, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Yohanes Genius Putu Sanjaya, the Head of Section of the Customs Intelligence of the Northern Sulawesi Regional Office of Customs and Excise on 20 January 2025.
The Consulate General and the Customs Office discussed Indonesia's customs, excise system, and trade prospects between the Philippines and Indonesia.
PLO Fajardo, on the other hand, discussed the joint efforts of the Philippine and Indonesian sides to curb illegal or irregular trade practices, such as smuggling and entry of contraband, and expressed his interest in working with Indonesian counterparts to curb illicit trade activities.
In addition, Mr. Sanjaya explained the Indonesian customs and tariff system to the Consulate General’s representatives. He offered means to facilitate and encourage businessmen from both sides to trade with each other. He also discussed the current state of trade between the Philippines and Indonesia and the causes of the current trade situation End.
