10 October 2025, Manado - The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, respectfully reports to the Department that on 10 October 2025, Post participated in the Lembeh Strait Charm Festival (FPSL) 2025, at the invitation of the Hon. Hengky Honandar, SE, Mayor of Bitung City. The festival, an annual, five-day celebration from 8-12 October 2025 carried the theme “Harmony in Diversity,” and Manado PCG’s participation on the third day coincided with the official opening ceremony.

As part of its participation, Manado PCG showcased Filipino culture in a booth at Satrol Kodaeral VIII, Kota Bitung, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Upon arrival, all team members worked together to set up the booth and hang tarpaulins. Our exhibit featured traditional Filipino dress and cultural artifacts, snacks from URC and Oishi (manufactured in Indonesia), and classic Filipino desserts cassava cake and leche flan for visitors to sample.

Throughout the day, Indonesian visitors explored our booth while PCG personnel distributed snacks. Many guests took photos, tried on the Filipiniana dresses and posed, and some even asked if the dresses were for sale though they were not. Visitors ranged from teenagers to senior citizens, and several commented that the cassava cake tasted like klapertart; however, most preferred the leche flan.

The opening ceremony, held in the afternoon, was represented by Vice Consul Manfred Neale Manalo and Commander Efren Ryan Fajardo. The program included musical and dance performances by students from Bitung, showcasing local traditional culture. It was followed by a fluvial parade at the pier of Satrol Lantamal VII in Bitung, with participation from government agencies, businesses, military and police units, and the public.

The day’s events concluded with an early dinner, highlighted by a Tuna Cutting Ceremony witnessed by guests. Tuna and skipjack are among Bitung’s primary fisheries commodities both highly valued in local and international markets. End
